The Pirate Bay Looks to Become a Streaming Service

The technology industry has undergone many changes and developments over the years. The Pirate Bay, a popular torrenting platform, has made numerous headlines in recent years.

It now appears TPB can be used to stream video content, instead of downloading it.

The Pirate Bay is Evolving

That is not necessarily a surprising development either.

Qries

The BitTorrent protocol is designed to let users share files.

In most cases that is associated with uploading and downloading content directly.

Very few people seem to realize it can easily be used for streaming content as long as the internet connection can push the data through.

With that in mind, it appears that The Pirate Bay is experimenting with this option today.

It is only available in very limited fashion and is not necessarily bug-free either.

The platform can provide this functionality as it is not hosting the content itself.

More specifically, The Pirate Bay hosts the .torrent files users download.

By offering a streaming option, even that type of “file hosting” is nullified altogether.

It is a very smart play, assuming this is intended to be rolled out on a much broader scale.

Finding a working mirror of The Pirate Bay capable of handling this functionality is not as easy.

Many users will be eager to try it out first and foremost.

All in all, a very peculiar development for The Pirate Bay, yet one that puts a different spin on streaming services.
