‘Drake Curse’ is Back: The Rapper Lost $400K Worth of BTC on Jake Paul-Tommy Fury Match

The renowned Canadian musician – Aubrey Drake Graham (better known as Drake) – parted with $400,000 worth of bitcoin after Jake Paul lost his fight against Tommy Fury.

Had Paul knocked out his opponent, the singer would have generated a profit of over $1 million in BTC.

Entangled in the ‘Drake Curse’

The musician wagered $400K worth of the primary cryptocurrency that his close friend Jake Paul (an American social medial personality who started pursuing a boxing career) will knock out Tommy Fury (the younger half-brother of the world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury). He once again used the casino games platform – Stake.

The odds for that were 3.60, meaning Drake could have cashed out a profit of more than $1,000,000 in BTC. Paul was close to winning the fight after knocking Fury down in the eighth round. However, the latter stood up and won the match after a split judge decision. In a conference after the event, Paul jokingly blamed Drake for his loss:

“This is Drake’s fault. Drake, bro, why did you do this to me?”

He then said the Canadian had won a lot of money betting on his wins before Fury, urging him to try his luck again should a rematch occur:

“It’s my fault. $400,000 is nothing to him. He has won a lot more money betting on me before. He’s probably about even now. Sorry, Drake, I’ll get that win in the rematch.”

The rapper seems to be a huge fan of betting on sports events. Many athletes and teams suffered a downfall after he put money on them, which triggered the creation of the phrase “the Drake curse.”

One such “victim” is the former heavyweight boxing champion – Anthony Joshua. Drake predicted that the British will defeat Andy Ruiz in their first boxing bout, but the Mexican underdog won by a knockout.

Betting on Formula 1 and soccer has also caused the rapper financial losses. He wagered $1 million worth of bitcoin on Argentina to beat France in the FIFA World Cup final after 90 minutes of play. Messi and his teammates lifted the trophy but only after penalties.

More Success on Super Bowl

Despite his unfortunate bets on all types of sports, Drake seems to have good predictable skills in Super Bowl. This year’s final brought him a profit of over $1.2 million worth of BTC after Kansas City Chiefs came victorious and Patrick Mahomes scored a touchdown.

He won $300K in bitcoin last year when Los Angeles Rams (LA Rams) triumphed in Super Bowl LVI, while Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ) scored a touchdown.
