By CCN: Jon Voight raised eyebrows in Hollywood circles by not only defending Donald Trump but also worshiping him as the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln in a ridiculous two-part video address to the nation. Angelina Jolie’s father and the star of Showtime’s Ray Donovan has long been an outspoken Republican, but surely he’s pushed the envelope a bit far this time.
Jon Voight Addresses Nation in Cringeworthy Videos
The Oscar winner and star of classic films such as Deliverance, Midnight Cowboy, and The Rainmaker, tweeted a two-part video series entitled “To my fellow Americans.” In it, he made the brazen statement that Donald Trump, widely considered a nightmare president, was “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”

Just as Trump dismantles the important Sino-US relationship and threatens the global economy with the blunt instruments of trade tariffs, the actor calls the left’s criticism of Trump “absurd words of destruction.”

Voight staunchly claims:
“I’m here today to tell you, my fellow Americans, that our country is stronger, safer, with more jobs because our president has made, his every move, correct.”
What The F**k Is Angelina Jolie’s Father Smoking?
Trump has enjoyed the fruits of an eight-year Obama administration that dragged the US from the grip of financial ruin back to growth and a tightening job market. He now threatens to plunge the country back into a recession with tariffs on Chinese imports and the inevitable response they will garner in return. You don’t need to be a game theory genius to figure out what punishing an economic superpower with tariffs does.
The implementation of Trump’s trade war with China was so mishandled that Canadian steel and aluminum exporters were inadvertently caught in the crosshairs before the Trudeau and Trump administrations came to an agreement recently.
This isn’t the first time Jon Voight has done his best to embarrass Angelina Jolie, with whom he reportedly has a complicated relationship.
His endorsement of Trump follows the actor’s clumsy defense of the then-candidate in 2016, in which he appeared unperturbed by Trump’s disgraceful voiced attitude towards women:
I don’t know of too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years. cont’d

The #MeToo movement was a year away, and Hollywood underwent somewhat of a purge, with Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K., and John Lasseter among some of the higher profile casualties.
It was clear then that Jon Voight was substantially out of touch with the prevailing political winds. That appears to be continuing, with Trump’s approval ratings never rising north of 50 percent throughout his trainwreck of a first (and hopefully only) term.
His severe lack of popularity does make Trump’s presidency unique. But it certainly doesn’t make it “the greatest since Lincoln.”
