Enthusiast-owned Luminosity Gaming announced it has secured the services of popular Fortnite player Yelo, granting the network access to the streamer’s 2 million-strong audience. We asked Yelo for his take on signing with one of the hottest eSports brands around. He said:
The news follows on from Enthusiast announcing earlier this week it had penned a sponsorship agreement with food-delivery platform foodora Canada to add to Luminosity’s impressive tally of sponsors such as Twitch and Universal Music Canada.
From Humble Beginnings
The Toronto-headquartered company boasts a startling portfolio of media assets, including sites such as The Escapist, Nintendo Enthusiast, and Destructoid. Combined, these reach a network of over 200 million gamers per month. Alongside, Enthusiast runs the Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo, attracting over 30,000 people every year.
Not a bad portfolio for a company that grew exponentially from a non-assuming blog created back in 2011. But, Enthusiast is eager to grow even further, having entered the Toronto Stock Exchange in October 2018.
Enthusiast Gaming Strikes Gold by Acquiring Luminosity Gaming
The most significant acquisition came in May this year when Enthusiast struck a deal to merge with owner of Luminosity Gaming, Aquilini GameCo.
Luminosity is one of the largest eSports organizations in North America whose crown jewel is the top-ranked team in The Overwatch League franchise, the Aquilini GameCo-owned Vancouver Titans. Alongside, it also has stakes in the upper of echelons of most other eSports including fan favorites Fortnite, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and Call of Duty.

Although the merger won’t come to fruition until later next month, once the dust settles the Enthusiast Gaming network will consist of eight eSports teams, more than 80 gaming media websites, 50 celebrity players and influencers, and a combination of over 900 Twitch and YouTube channels.
CCN reached out to Luminosity Gaming to know whether it plans to make further high-profile acquisitions and sign other big-name gaming personalities. They told us:
“We are in continuous discussions about other high-profile partnerships and other streamers/influencers. The Luminosity brand continues to grow, and we are always looking to grow our teams and influencers.”
Now allied to Luminosity and new signing Yelo, Enthusiast Gaming is chomping at the bit to expand further, and there’s no doubt we’ll come to be well-acquainted with the company in the years to come.
