Offense falls short again with runners in scoring position
After splitting a tough two-game series against the Minnesota Twins, the Milwaukee Brewers tried to gain some momentum in the division and wild card race against the Washington Nationals.
In his last outing against the Texas Rangers, Adrian Houser recorded a career-high in strikeouts (10). Houser recorded another career-high in game one against the Nationals by pitching a strong seven innings. The Brewers needed everything Houser could give them as they faced Nationals’ southpaw, Patrick Corbin. Houser outdueled Corbin, only allowing one run on two hits and striking out four batters.
Unfortunately, the offense would waste another outing from Houser. Once again, the Brewers were unable to drive in runners in scoring position. Orlando Arcia recorded his first home run since July 5th, but that would be the only run scored by the offense. The team wound up leaving 13 men on base and finished 2-10 with runners in scoring position.
The Brewers will try to rebound in game two. Jordan Lyles will get the start. First pitch is set for 6:05.
