El Salvador’s Central Bank (BCR) informed today that it has registered 80 Bitcoin service providers to operate legally in the country.
Among the service providers registered with the BCR are: CHIVO, S.A. DE C.V., the company responsible for the government’s official wallet, Chivo; the Bitcoin custodians Paxos, 503 Escrow, Bitcapital, the startup Niu, and many other cryptocurrency exchanges.

- The number of cryptocurrency services registered by the Central Bank of El Salvador demonstrates that the country continues to support the adoption and use of Bitcoin, allowing international companies to assist in this effort.
- At present, the registry includes nearly 58 cryptocurrency exchanges, many of which provide custody or storage services for Bitcoin.
- Additionally, two registered companies (NEO TECH FUTURE and QUICKIPAY) offer Bitcoin ATM services, potentially increasing the number of ATMs installed in the country, which previously totaled 204 units, according to Statista.
