Google Cloud Becomes an Enterprise Validator Node In THETA’s Mainnet 2.0

The blockchain video streaming network Theta Labs announced today that Google Cloud had joined its Enterprise Validator Program (EVP). Interestingly, this partnership coincides with Theta’s Mainnet 2.0 launch scheduled to take place also today.

Google Cloud And Theta Labs

Per the announcement, the tech giant has become the newest member of Theta’s Enterprise Validator Program. Thus, Google Cloud has joined the likes of blockchain-based companies such as gumi, Blockchain Ventures, and the leading cryptocurrency exchange by volume and users – Binance.

Theta’s EVP allows enterprises to validate transactions in accordance with the company’s underlying consensus protocol. In the statement from today, the blockchain firm said that Google Cloud is now the “preferred cloud provider.”

Theta users will have the ability to deploy and run nodes directly from Google Cloud Marketplace (GCP Marketplace), which is already live.

By joining the program, the tech giant will provide “the stability, reliability, and security offered by the Google Cloud Platform to the Theta Network.” This will result in a “high-performance decentralized micropayment network that scales to millions of concurrent video reviews,” explains the announcement.

“Distributed ledger technology enables new business models that potentially transform the global digital economy, including the media and entertainment industry. We are impressed by Theta’s achievements in blockchain video and data delivery.

We look forward to participating as an enterprise validator, and to providing Google Cloud infrastructure in support of Theta’s long-term mission and future growth.” – said Allen Day, Developer Advocate for Google Cloud.

Mainnet 2.0 And Token Prices

Aside from the partnership with Google Cloud, the blockchain company also emphasized on its upcoming Mainnet 2.0 launch. The network upgrade will provide several technical improvements, as CryptoPotato recently reported.

Binance also noted that it will support the launch of Theta Mainnet 2.0. The popular exchange later added that its futures platform will integrate THETA/USDT perpetual contract with up to 50x leverage.

THETA and the other native cryptocurrency – TFUEL – have gone through notable fluctuations lately. THETA surged a few days ago after the company revealed more information on the network upgrade. Similarly, the partnership news with Google Cloud was followed by a jump from $0.43 to $0.58 in a matter of hours. Since then, however, THETA has retraced heavily to $0,45.

TFUEL was less volatile today with an increase from $0.014 to $0.016 before returning to the initial level. Nevertheless, TFUEL has recorded impressive gains in the past month of over 600%.
