Jack Dorsey, the CEO of one of the largest social media platforms, Twitter, will be converting the proceeds of the sale of the genesis tweet in Bitcoin and donate it to the GiveDirectly’s Africa Response Campaign.
- Earlier during the weekend, CryptoPotato reported that Jack Dorsey has put up the genesis tweet for sale.
- This became possible through a platform that allows individuals to tokenize and sell their tweets in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT).
- At the time, Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, had bid $2 million for the tweet.
- Presently, however, the bid sits at $2.5 million or roughly around 1630 ETH at current rates. The bidder is Sina Estavi, the chief executive officer of Bridge Oracle – the first public oracle system on TRON’s network.
- Today, Dorsey took it to his Twitter to share that the auction ends on March 21st and that immediately after that, he will convert the proceeds to Bitcoin and send it to the Africa Response campaign of GiveDirectly.
Ending this March 21st
Will immediately convert proceeds to #Bitcoin
And send to @GiveDirectly Africa Response
