The coin was initially offered to the initial DOT holders before the DOT denomination process where a single DOT was split up into many. The DOT holders were given the option to exchange their DOT tokens with KSM tokens and began their experiment on the network.

KSM price which initiated with approximately $1.5 somewhere at the beginning of 2020, shot up massively in the last week of August 2020. The trading volume spiked during the time which assisted the token to register its all-time high of $60.04 on Sep 03, 2020.
