Reduction in Initial and Maintenance Margin for BCHUSD, LTCUSD, TRXUSDT, and SOLUSDT

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide an even better trading experience for our users, we will be reducing the Base Initial Margin and Base Maintenance Margin requirements and increasing the available leverage for our BCHUSD, LTCUSD, TRXUSDT, and SOLUSDT quanto swaps. This change will take place on 1 September at 04:00 UTC.

The current Base Initial Margin and Base Maintenance Margin requirements for our products can be found here.

Impact of these changes

For traders both on and above the Base Risk Limit (50 XBT notional):

  • With the Initial Margin requirements reduced, the Bankruptcy Price will move closer to the Average Entry Price – resulting in an increase of the Maximum Leverage available.
  • With the Maintenance Margin requirements reduced,  the Liquidation Price will move closer to Bankruptcy Price – resulting in the amount of Maintenance Margin lost in the event of liquidation being reduced as well.
  • As the difference between Initial Margin and Maintenance Margin will decrease, the  Liquidation Price will move closer to Average Entry Price.

Please note that the cap on the absolute Funding Rate will change in line with its definition as 75% x (Initial Margin – Maintenance Margin) and  the cap on Funding Rate changes between Funding Intervals (75% of Maintenance Margin) will also reduce. Please see the Perpetual Swap Contracts Guide for more information on these definitions.
